Way Out Of Recession

The current economic situation of Nigeria has brought about blame game in the country and we do not want to admit that we all collectively asked for recession in a way we either didn't realise or turn deaf ears to. As a concerned citizen, permit me to rub mind with you that President Buhari is not the cause of the recession but the collective will of the people. We all should be thankful that a man like Buhari is holding the office of the president of this nation at a time like this because he has sincerely revealed to us the state of the country unlike his predecessors who were fond of lying and covering their shortcomings because they were filled with evil stomachs. Of course if President Buhari has continued to lie like others did, we wouldn't realise that Nigeria has lost it feet a long time ago. We are all complaining of the economic hardship because he is not ready to profligate the nation's treasuries like the previous governments and as remained adamant on the

NYSC And The Lost Heritage

NYSC And Its Lost Heritage  In the month of May of 1973 when the military administration of General Yakubu Gowon enacted decree 24 which gave birth to NYSC in Nigeria "with a view to the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity" as part of the 3R programmes aftermath the civil war, it truly gained momentum and performed notable functions of its course. And it did encourage unity among the youth graduates of the of the six universities in the country then. It created opportunities for the tens of thousands graduates in the nation.  And with decree No.51 of of June 16th 1993,it purposes were well spelt out as follows "To inculcate discipline in Nigerian youths by instilling in them a tradition of industry at work, and of patriotic and loyal service to Nigeria in any situation they may find themselves. To raise the moral tone of the Nigerian youths by giving them the
Is religion our problem? My dearest brothers and sisters in this great nation, permit me to correct the ills being perceived about religion in this country. There has not been a day I tuned to listen into radio stations or watch television stations news and won't see or hear the word "religion* in/on the headline. If all really believe in the 'creator' then there wouldn't be religion crisis the least. I stand to argue that what we practice today is but a deceit against our own conscience. I look at people pitifully when I see them dressed in their best attires on Fridays and Sundays going to mosque and church respectively. And I wonder if they are worshipping their ego or God.  I will like to come out frank and expose the dubious imams and pastors who are nothing but opposite of what they preach in reality. Somebody might rebuke me for throwing such a jibe without the least respect, I don't mind! Nigeria has the highest number of worship places(mosque a
Who will save us? This country will not be saved from her quagmire until we have leaders and not rulers with right-minded youths willing to save their land.   I have thought and watched Nigeria political scene since I became conscious of my environment and haven't seen any change, not even the names of those dubious sit-tight rulers change but only the offices they hold changes. And I start to wonder if there are youths in Nigeria at all who loves freedom and liberty. We have only turned ourselves to puppets in the hands of this politicians to drive us psychologically and physically to achieving their aims all in the name of 'what shall we eat?'. It saddens my heart when I see Nigeria's youths posting pictures on social media while they club on weekends.I wonder how quickly we react to controversial issues surrounding our celebrities but show little or no interest at all when issues rise up among the rulers of this country which is indirectly affecting t
Gone for vacation or salvation? When the eyes reach the dew point, it wouldn't but shed the tears and the mouth shall make the cry. This the situation of fellow Nigerians who are but fed up of this obscure presidency which is but an epitome of esoteric confusion.  The  President's vacation is still a dubious practice which has raised a lot of questions by political observers in the country. When Mr President announced his departure for vacation on his twitter account nine days ago,I wasn't in anyway surprise but yet I couldn't turn deaf ears to my instinct.  Has Buhari really made vacation an annual routine? Taking you back in a short memory, He embarked on a similar vacation about this time last year but I wasn't really worried because I knew the old man needed to rest and get medical attention from the best set of doctors he could trust the most judging that he couldn't have made the health sector the image of what he envisaged in the short time he
EFCC; The tool for Anti-Corruption, Anti-Buhari Or Vengeance? APC, upon declaring Buhari as its presidential flag bearer in December 2014,we all agitated to give him the full support come the 2015 election. Time didn't take too slow and we matched to our various polling boots and casted our votes which saw to the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the presidential election and the whole of Nigeria was in new shade and the heaven and land of Nigeria was rejoicing. We all nursed the hope that the era has come when we shall have an accountable government which will see to the end of the bad worms profligating our resources to their personal advantage.    What arose our hope the more was the notable statement you made that "I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody". I heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing this that this is the beginning of the end of 'god-fatherism' and 'I am untouchable' scenario in our political affairs. However contrary

LAUTECH; the misery and the mystery

*Must we lose to win?* YES! The question sounds rhetoric and paradoxical but in actual sense it is comprehensive enough to those who have the listening mind. Just today,on my phone I found the news of students been shot at in LAUTECH for protesting against the ongoing strike in the school two campuses of Osun and Oyo states due to the failure of both states government to pay salary and allowances to the staffs . And honestly, no one is talking about it or rather no one is taking it so seriously as it should be. I have taken keen interest in reading about the education history in Nigeria and I see it losing value as each day passes. We cannot have two successful session in any of our institutions without having one issue or the other leading to the closure of our academic classes. The lackadaisical attitude of the government towards our education has never been taken so seriously right from the very day we got independent. As against this, there was the creation of Nige
