Way Out Of Recession

The current economic situation of Nigeria has brought about blame game in the country and we do not want to admit that we all collectively asked for recession in a way we either didn't realise or turn deaf ears to. As a concerned citizen, permit me to rub mind with you that President Buhari is not the cause of the recession but the collective will of the people. We all should be thankful that a man like Buhari is holding the office of the president of this nation at a time like this because he has sincerely revealed to us the state of the country unlike his predecessors who were fond of lying and covering their shortcomings because they were filled with evil stomachs. Of course if President Buhari has continued to lie like others did, we wouldn't realise that Nigeria has lost it feet a long time ago. We are all complaining of the economic hardship because he is not ready to profligate the nation's treasuries like the previous governments and as remained adamant on the theory of Engels which says 'from each according to his capacity, to each according to his needs'.I am not exonerating Mr President because I gave my auspice to his mandate, and if you think am sentimental, read my article I titled "EFCC;Tool-for-anti-Corruption or Anti-Buhari" on    www.Las2boytreasure.blogspot.com.ng Most of us are not living up to the standard we used to be in the previous years because we were living on 'unmerited favour' and the situation at hand has only exposed our laziness, corruption, dependent, and myopic attitudes. I have observed that there too many are many prevalent factors as the causes of the economic melt down. And from my research I found the common man as the major contributor to the backsliding situation in the country. However, this doesn't mean the government has no hand in this. In this article, I shall speak concisely on one factor which I think we can arrest at instant- the increasing gap between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat.
The rich ones are getting richer and the poor ones are getting poorer. It shouldn't surprise us that even when the economy turns back for good it will still remain this way until a poor man begins to help another man of his social class.
The manner by which we reject our local markets is alarming and hitting back at us in a way we seems not to pay attention to. I have witnessed a friend who ran miles to get food stuffs at shoprite at the expense of a community market just footsteps away from his house. And I asked him why only that he said "their goods are fresh and its exciting shopping there", what a reason indeed. Our women and men are there in the market with no one to buy from them, forgetting that if you buy from them today, they will gain enough to rebrand and modernize their markets. We have forgotten our local cafeteria and embrace the ones with big names where we can lavishly display our wealth and boast about the peanuts we have in our pocket. I understand that human will at a point want a flashy life, but how about the effect of this lifestyle?
A friend posted a message on a group chat that we should shun buying airtime from bank and rather buy from hawkers and those in kiosks. To my surprise, fellow Nigerians were attacking him with the points that it's more convenient and energy saving to buy from bank. Is it not more disastrous that we are perishing the poor and helping the rich get richer?
The bitter reality is that even when we choose to buy from local market, we will haggle over the price until the poor seller will have no choice but to sake at a rate which will leave him/her with little gain and their standard of living won't become better. Yet we flamboyantly agree with whatever price is tagged on goods at these shopping malls and supermarkets.
All in one, this manner is contributing to increase in poverty rate and simultaneously as well as crime rate. A retailer who stays in the market all day with little or no profit at the end of the day will have less than enough to eat. Meanwhile a hungry man is not just an angry man but will also become a desperate man and at the end have no choice but to resort to bad habit to make end means. We have to save our own ways. We should not be complaining and doing nothing to help the situation.  Remember it is not 'I' or 'they' that make up Nigeria but 'we'. If truly we are part of the existence, we shouldn't put everything in the hands of the government and expect anything to change. We are the ones suffering and only we can help ourselves. You and I is guilty of this and we can start making a change now.
God bless Nigeria!!!
