Ogun House Of Assembly: Any Success So Far?

Ogun House Of Assembly: Any Success So Far? I would have received more than a thousands criticisms by now on my silence on everything going on in Ogun state. I should make it clear that I have not been too occupied not to feel concerned about the political success and gauche in the state since 2011. I have realised now is the right time to start talking on the necessary since I have been reading too many people coming for the occupation of our governor office come 2019.   I wouldn't want to talk about the occupant of that number one office of the state in Oke Mosan. Let us swing discussion on the powerful but flexible puppets of that occupant. Here I shall make my point on the gallant failure of the law makers of the state in terms of the state of education in the state under these puppets. Why I chose EDUCATION as my first theme is perhaps because I know education is the bedrock of success. Let us go back to 2011, when Sen. Amosun came into power in the state. There was only

A Nomad In Aso Rock

Obviously when we all saw Buhari came back to Nigeria earlier yesterday, all his lovers became happy that finally our president is back and healthy, not mentioning the fact that some people never wished for his comeback. I became more relaxed when I saw him onn channels TV as he came down from the flight in Kaduna. I became more confused immediately I got the news that president Buhari said Osinbajo will continue to be in charge of the office of the president. Why is Buhari not resuming to his office now that he is back in the country? Maybe his health is deteriorating , I guess. The debate was rolling in my mind while I read a confirmed news that Buhari is going back to London in two weeks time and the issue got more complicated. A rational man will say: why did he return in the first place? Perhaps the constitution forced him to. The constitution has it that a president shall not be absent from his office(responsibilities) for sixty days straight. I hope your mind is getting the

Confrontation; But where Are The Other Cs Of Aluta

In the recent time, I have taken a keen interest in observing the success of Students Unionism is Nigeria and I have no record to put together of achievement of this association. The question should be:Why is students unions failing in all institutions and at the national level?   In the olden days, whenever the students send a signal of raising aluta force against any person(s) or constituted authority, irrespective of the cabal involved in the oppression, they begin to shiver and sought for a way of calming the infuriating mood in the students and quickly reach for a solution to please their agitations. And if this is not done, the oppressors stand to lose a lot by the force of the aluta struggle. Unfortunately, in our days, the more we raise aluta force, the worse we begin to lose our weight of victory. What was in the unionism of those days that has been lost in the recent time? Let me relate the eight months scenario in LAUTECH and the STAFEC struggle of TASUED to this note,

The UNILAG Eleven And The Constituted Authority

The rustication of the UNILAG eleven is no more a news but the tussle between the eleven and the school management continues to refresh the headlines as each day passes. The students showed their grievance yesterday in a protest tagged as OccupyUnilag. Some of the aggrieved students were seen putting on shirts with their names written on it as constituted authority, mimicking the perceived oppressive management. The protest which saw the almalgation of Nigerian Students from different institutions of the country received a quite good encomium from Nigerian students from other institutions while majority of the concerned students, Akokites as they are fondly called, only kept to the corner of their hostels showing indifference to the staged protest against the school management. Some angles relates that the protest is not for the eleven students collectively but only in support of Femi Adeyeye, one of the eleven students who was rusticated on the basis of writing an article which debase

TASUEDSU AND THE LOST PRIORITY

Image
I got stuck of words when I saw a post on this platform as regard the disrepair status of the Students Parliamentary Council of Tasued. Check http://www.theowlcampus.com/tasued-student-union-parliamentary-chamber-or-shame-bar/  This was at a time when I was still holding my own pen firmly to touch naivety of the UBUNTU regime. I have found complete failure on the part of the Students Parliamentary Council(SPC), the organ which is expected to be the most influential arm in the school unionism, but it is so only on paper. The legislative room which has been turned to a relaxation centre where students charge their phones and meet their boyfriends and girlfriends. The council gave me the surprise of my life when it locked up the room because a phone that belong to one of the senators was stolen in the process of charging in what hit up to a bunfight in the Student Union Building(SUB). In the recent days, I have found it difficult to distinguish 'check and balance' and antago
